Joost van Santen Light and Daylight Art in Architecture and Sculpture
Light Seats, Breda, the Netherlands
Side with sand-blasted glass
Three 'Light Seats' are installed at a small square at the Ginnekenweg-Noord in Breda, Netherlands. The Light Seats are Light Modules. The back of the chair is made of glass, 6 cm thick. One side is laminated with coloured glass. The other side of the glass is sand blasted, producing a translucent plane. With diffuse weather the colours of the laminated glass are diffused at the other side. The seat of the chair is polished stainless steel, which acts as a mirror. With sunlight sharp images appear, changing with time of day and day of the year. The project has been developed in close collaboration with the community of the neighbourhood
Dynamic Daylight Images are the essence of the art of Joost van Santen
